“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.” -Aristotle
Many things can stand in our way; fear, anxiety, doubt, maybe a lack of confidence. I have personally experienced the debilitating effects of these self-sabotaging traits. Any one of these can be crippling. Do each and every one of us deal with these inner demons? Is it normal? We’re only human right? Well… yup!! Of course we all experience these negative emotions! Yes, it is only human.
The difference is that not all of us allow them to stay as long or return as often as some do, and that changes everything. I’m here to tell you that if these little saboteurs rear their ugly little heads out from some dark place in your mind you can and must starve them out of existence. This is easier than you may think. It all starts with a little light. In my experience these little buggers love the dark. They do not want others to know about them.
They hide and skulk about while gnawing at the only thing they crave; which is your life. The fear of something cannot survive if you take action to dispel the fear. The anxiety that holds you back from taking that step cannot survive if you take that step! Doubt is proven wrong when you simply show that you can do it, or are willing to try.
The trick is staying mindful, so that when and where these negative thoughts and emotions pop up- you are ready to face them with the resolve to overcome. The fact is, you can overcome. Everyone is capable of conquering their inner demons.
You are worth so much more than you can ever imagine. Each one of us is magnificent. We are intricately and elegantly put together- from the soles of our feet to the top of our heads. We are fully capable in overcoming the obstacles that stand in our way. The deception that we cannot overcome is the fallacy on which they rely. Once this lie is revealed for what it is it can never return as before.
I know what it feels like to be immobilized by fear, anxiety, and doubt. There was a time when I felt I could not overcome. It all changed when I began to speak about it with other people. The simple act of revealing the struggle reduced it by half. From that point on I understood how insubstantial they actually are. This is exactly what I mean by ‘light’. Communicating with others instead of hiding, acting in ways to overcome, focusing on abilities rather than doubts, facing fear head on.
We are all beautiful and amazingly powerful. Anyone or anything that says otherwise is in the dark- so shed a little light and watch them disappear like nighttime apparitions at the coming of dawn!!
As usual thanks for stopping by!!
