Bernie Sanders is A True American

I love America. The idea that a Nation can uphold certain ideals, put forth to ensure equality and justice for all of its citizens, is admirable. Just listen to the eloquent writing transcribed on the original Constitution of the United States;

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

That is a pretty clear statement as to why we would establish a Constitution. It is written in plain english. “We the People” refers to all citizens, and they desire; the “Blessings of Liberty” to “promote the general welfare” to “insure domestic tranquility” and to “provide for the common defense” so that not only will they live well and free but so will their children.
We know why they formed the Constitution of the United States of America but what about the reasons that led up to it?

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

Very interesting… It’s almost as if they designed our Great Nation to be able to purge itself of any corruption or mishandling through the democratic process of elections; because they knew all to well how greed and corruption could spread if left unchecked and unchallenged. Just listen to what Thomas Jefferson continued to write in The Declaration of Independence;

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness…”

Beautifully written! And when you take a step back and think about the oppressive and tyrannical governance they’d suffered under you can start to understand why our great Nation was designed the way it was. Knowing that corruption will occur, the Architects of our Nation provided a wealth of ways in which we could safely remove those who would continue to corrupt it, essentially we where given a giant reset button.

Starting fresh, without the oppressive nature of corruption weighing heavily on our backs, is what America is about. We need to become aware of the power we have as citizens. It is written that, “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,” and that is precisely the point I am trying to make. We are the People. We are the wealth behind the economy. We are the ones that through the focus of our willful intent either allow governance to continue or abolish it in favor of newly elected officials.

Our forefathers drafted the blueprint for us to be able to build and maintain a prosperous and free Nation that afforded equal and fair rights for all. There are those who would remove the ability of The People to actively participate in acknowledging, and removing, the ways in which we have betrayed the core principles of this Nation-as drafted in plain English for all to see.
If it is about inequality, it is unAmerican. If it is about profits over people, it is unAmerican. If it about consolidation of power, it is unAmerican. If it is about money providing privilege beyond anything except material possession, it is unAmerican.

In a culture so heavily skewed by the homogenizing effects of Corporatist Ideologies we are losing focus on the individual Citizen. We are forgoing the rights of the whole in favor of the few. Instead of a Nation of individuals we are becoming a Nation of Corporations. The systemic corruption that arises from putting the Corporation first (with the sole purpose of profit) has perverted our principle ideals as Americans. Corporate lobbying is behind the drafting of new legislation more often than any other cause. At an alarming rate we are seeing laws pop up that contradict what we know to be right as individuals… but somehow they are still being promoted… By whom? By Corporations who will see increased revenues. It’s really quite simple when you think about it. The commercials you watch, the News you take in with that cup of morning coffee, those laws that sneak by you while you’re busy living, are all carefully manufactured and presented by Corporations, who by definition desire profits first.
Now having said all that, I am not against Corporations per se. However, I am against Money in politics. The weight of money in the legislative process circumvents the fair and equal parameters set in a democratic election. Instead of working to sway the vote politicians simple sway according to the whim of the lobby, and that is corruption plain and simple. We have the blueprint, all we need to do is look it over carefully and see where we have compromised the integrity of the structure. The most American thing I can think of is a fresh start. A new beginning with the no baggage whatsoever, because we can find all that we need along the way to rebuild.

I love America. I believe we have what it takes to uphold the ideals given us by our forefathers. There are a few out there who are still for ‘We the People’ rather than for the Corporations and the Lobby. As far as I am concerned there is only one candidate who has a proven track record in honest and open discourse about the systemic corruption that arises when greed and profit overshadows freedom and liberty. Suffering and Death; Religion as a Scapegoat and Political Positioning

images7F3HS5ZWThere is a growing number of people who use religion as a scapegoat for the violent world in which we live. This is ironic when one studies the world religions and finds that there is a common thread that is woven within the tapestry of all faiths. Whether here at home or abroad, in todays age or the age of  our ancestors, this common denominator is present.

The common thread is the attempt to root out and abolish thoughts and their subsequent actions that are contrary to the well being of an individual or his or her society.  Religion attempts this through the power of narrative and tradition. These traditions are many.  They seek to identify what is bad (immoral or sinful), and what is good (moral and ethical).   These systems of belief that help an individual develop a deeper sense of moral altruism do not lead to the violence and strife we see in the world today.  This is a simple fact.  What does occur is a perversion and manipulation of religious systems for political gain.

According to David Barrett et al, editors of the “World Christian Encyclopedia: A comparative survey of churches and religions – AD 30 to 2200,” there are 19 major world religions which are subdivided into a total of 270 large religious groups, and many smaller ones. 34,000 separate Christian groups have been identified in the world. “Over half of them are independent churches that are not interested in linking with the big denominations.” To read more click on the link below.

With religious extremism at the forefront of the major media conglomerates focus, we are being given a daily lesson on how ideological manipulation can be used as a means of justification for the most atrocious acts.  This lesson, while worthwhile, pales in comparison to the larger world issues that dominate the majority of the world populations day to day affairs.  We live in a world where many terrible things occur, people are suffering by the billions worldwide, and most of it has little or nothing to do with religion. We are being indoctrinated by mass media to viscerally respond to, and focus on, religion as a major root cause of the suffering and strife in this world. This is simply not the case. We live in a world where tactical diversions keep us looking in one direction while the real issues go largely unnoticed. We also experience apathy toward many of the worlds issues because we are led to believe that it has always been this way- that it is how the world works. This is nonsense.images

Earlier I stated that the common thread found in many of the worlds religions is an attempt to root out and abolish thoughts and their subsequent actions that are contrary to the well being of an individual or his or her society, and it is done through the power of narrative and tradition, and I stand by that statement. Religion is more often a transformative tool that increases the awareness of self, and the role of an individual in a societal context, than anything else- it does not(in and of itself) incite masses of people to do violence. The media bombardment that has religious extremism as the leading cause of suffering and death is complete bunk.  We must look at the politically motivated machines behind these so called ‘religious observers’.

As you can see in the chart above the leading causes of death (and the suffering beforehand) are in no way connected to religion. These statistics are the end result of a flawed system which allows suffering on a massive scale. Religious extremism is definitely a problem, but it is impotent without political power. The real war on religion is about political positioning. It is about garnering solidarity amongst citizens so that the will of the government and the will of the people become aligned. This is the real problem. Men and women who seek power will utilize whatever tool is available to do so, and with the media machine and western philosophy primed and at ready it is no stretch of the imagination that we are manipulated on a grand scale and on a daily basis.

In this list, it is interesting to note that the first ’cause’ that has a direct connection to any sort of violence is 15 spots down, and is listed as ‘Intentional injuries (Suicide, Violence, War, etc.)’ and has a rate of 37 male deaths per 100,000. Now if we look at the 14 spots preceding it, we see a list that  highlights the true root causes of suffering and strife in our world- abject poverty and the deplorable conditions in which many billions live. When I added up the number of male deaths per 100,000 for these 14 top killers I got an astronomical number of 2,229.8 per 100,000.

Is it all starting to add up yet??

If we are going to have any chance of changing this world for the better we have got to make changes where changes are necessary. We can go on allowing mass media to manipulate our assessment of the situation for political reasons- or we can dig a little deeper and focus on the reality of the situation. The suffering in this world is the byproduct of a system that enriches and empowers a few while oppressing and impoverishing the masses. All you need to do is crunch the numbers to see the proof. I am done with the media hype. Give me the data and I will make up my own mind.
